The exam carries a total of 90 questions for 270 marks. Notably, there is no negative marking in Session I, but Session II has a negative marking of 1 mark for each wrong answer. The questions are set in English, Hindi, and 13 regional languages to accommodate candidates from different parts of the country.

In the Numerical and Mathematical Ability section, the syllabus covers topics such as number systems, HCF & LCM, percentages, decimals and fractions, ratio and proportion, simple interest, compound interest, profit and loss, averages, time and work, time and distance, mensuration, and data interpretation. For the Reasoning Ability and Problem Solving section, topics include verbal and non-verbal reasoning, classification, analogy, coding-decoding, series, blood relations, direction sense test, and puzzles. The General Awareness section tests the candidate’s knowledge of current events, Indian history, geography, constitution, scientific research, sports, culture, and static general knowledge. Lastly, the English Language and Comprehension section assesses vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms and antonyms, comprehension passages, and basic language skills.
