In Diablo 4, an Eternal-to-Seasonal gold plan starts with activity unlocks, then favors Gold reward nodes and reserves Marks of Wisdom for poor rolls. While activity clears are the in-game route, D4 Gold is a separate option to consider alongside that plan.
The schedule and mechanics below depend on the proposed Season 16 setup, including a December 1 launch window. Treat point costs, node names, and availability as details to confirm in the War Plans panel rather than guaranteed live-game conditions.
Set the activity path before spending Marks
Open War Plans and count your available Tactics points before rerolling anything. Tactics points determine which activities are unlocked and which reward types receive priority, so a Gold-focused tree still needs points in activities you intend to clear.
If Greater Helltide is your planned gold activity, prioritize its activity unlock before adding Pit points. A Gold reward node cannot make an activity pay more if that activity remains locked. Check the displayed unlock and its point cost before committing points.
Next, inspect the reward rows and favor Gold where the tree permits it. The proposed setup describes reward-bias steps as commonly costing three points, but the panel should be your authority for the actual cost. Keep enough flexibility for the materials your build consumes instead of putting every available point into one reward type.
Use Marks only on rewards you will not use
Marks of Wisdom are the resource used to replace an unfavorable reward-node roll. Keep a Gold result when early tempering and other gold costs are your main concern; rerolling it for a more attractive reward can consume Marks without solving that shortage.
Consider a reroll when a node offers neither Gold nor a material your current build expects to spend within the next two days. Obducite or a seasonal material can be a better result than Gold if it is already the resource holding up your planned upgrades.
Set aside a small reserve of Marks for the first Seasonal week. The proposed plan uses roughly twenty thoughtful rerolls as an early budgeting reference, not a confirmed system cap. Stop before your reserve is empty, and do not chase a perfect tree on the first day.
Record the old reward, the new reward, and the remaining Marks after each reroll. The useful confirmation is the reward displayed on that node after the change; check it before moving on so you do not reroll an acceptable result by mistake.
Carry the plan, not the character investment
Use Eternal play to inspect the available node text and costs if the same system is present there. Write down the activity unlocks, reward choices, and intended Marks reserve rather than relying only on screenshots, since the Seasonal panel may differ.
Do not assume Eternal points or gear will carry into a new Seasonal character. The practical transfer is the written order: unlock the activity you will run, add the reward bias that supports your spending, and reserve Marks for corrections after you see your actual returns.
After the first full week, compare your gold supply with your upgrade needs. If gold is plentiful but Obducite or another material is holding you back, direct future points toward that material rather than immediately replacing the entire Gold path.
Before the Seasonal start, open War Plans and note the displayed costs and rewards for your intended route. If you also plan to buy d4 gear, check which character and progression rules apply before making any purchase.
